German-speaking Switzerland
Gentle slopes and river valleys.A temperate climate and a spirit of experimentation. Here, Pinot Noir reigns supreme, joined by Riesling-Sylvaner and grape varieties from around the world.
Spread across several cantons – Zurich, Aargau, Thurgau, Grisons, and Schaffhausen – the vineyards of German-speaking Switzerland cover about 2,600 hectares. They extend over gentle hills and river valleys, benefiting from a temperate climate and a variety of soils, often morainic and gravelly.
The dominant grape is Pinot Noir (Blauburgunder), which occupies more than half of the cultivated area. Riesling-Silvaner and other varieties complete the diversity, reflecting the spirit of experimentation that defines the region.
The Artisanes’ Wine Selections from the Region
Our Artisanes du Vin are firmly rooted between Aargau and Zurich. In Aargau, Rahel Buchmann (Buchmann Weine, Wittnau) and Susi Wehrli (Wehrli Weinbau, Küttigen) carry on the region’s winemaking heritage. Around Zurich, Nadine Besson-Strasser (Weingut Besson-Strasser, Uhwiesen), Monica Hasler Bürgi (Weingut Rütihof, Uerikon), and Nadine Saxer (Weingut Nadine Saxer, Neftenbach) embody the vitality of Zurich’s vineyards.

Sauvignon, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer 2023 / White / AOC Aargau
A wine like a warm summer evening after the rain – fresh, aromatic and full of life. On the nose, a complex interplay of gooseberry, ripe pear, exotic fruits and a hint of rose unfolds. On the palate, Sommerregen is elegant and well balanced: the lively acidity of Sauvignon Blanc meets the creamy texture of Pinot Gris, while Gewürztraminer enchants with floral and spicy notes.
Tasting notes: gooseberry, pear, rose
Food pairing: Asian-inspired dishes, asparagus, cheese or simply as an outdoor aperitif

Cabernet Dorsa 2023 / Red / AOC Aargau
This single-varietal Cabernet Dorsa reveals a refined balance between fruit and spice. The nose offers ripe cherries, dark berries and subtle herbal notes, supported by a delicate mineral freshness that adds depth. On the palate, it is juicy and rounded, with softly integrated tannins and a smooth, harmonious finish.
Tasting notes: cherry, pepper, dark berries
Food pairing: rich meat dishes, aged cheeses or enjoyed alongside a good, meaningful conversation

Pinot Noir 2022 / Red / VDP Suisse
Aromas of ripe berries, subtle toasted notes and dark chocolate define the bouquet of this Pinot Noir. On the palate, it is full-bodied with a gentle smoky note and a harmonious tannin structure.
Tasting notes: ripe berries, subtle toasted aromas
Food pairing: pairs well with a wide range of meat dishes, cheese and charcuterie platters

Räuschling 2023 / White / AOC Zurich
Räuschling is an autochthonous grape variety from the Zurich region that nearly disappeared due to its demanding nature in the vineyard and highly variable yields from year to year. Our Räuschling is aged for one year in large oak casks on the fine lees, giving it added complexity and vibrant freshness. It can be enjoyed young or aged for several years.
Tasting notes: aromas of garden herbs and flinty notes, fruity and floral hints of acacia blossom. Lively and racy on the palate, fresh and well balanced, elegant with good ageing potential.
Food pairing: as an aperitif or with fish from the Rhine or a lake

Räuschling 2024 / White / AOC Lake Zurich
On the shores of Lake Zurich, this is the classic white wine par excellence. Once the dominant grape from Zurichberg to Rapperswil, it nearly vanished in the last century due to the rise of Riesling-Sylvaner. Since the 1980s, it has been carefully cultivated again at the Rütihof estate. With only 22 hectares planted worldwide, it is a true rarity.
Tasting notes: delicate bouquet, subtly fruity (citrus, violet), elegant palate with fresh, mineral acidity and a long-lasting finish
Food pairing: perfect as an aperitif, with vegetables, salads, goat’s cheese and, of course, lake fish

Pinot Noir, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon & Tannat / Red / AOC Aargau
Originating from the Biberstein terroir, Gheld Tank is a characterful cuvée vinified with precision and patience. Each grape variety is matured separately before being blended a few months prior to bottling. The result is a structured, intense yet highly pleasurable wine with great depth.
Tasting notes: fruity aromas of blackberry, plum and cherry, complemented by spicy notes of clove and pepper. Elegant on the palate with present yet finely textured tannins and a long, persistent finish.
Food pairing: braised meats, stews, game with polenta or lamb chops
